Steel America (division of Colonna's Shipyard) is currently hiring a Fabrication Welding Inspector for immediate hire.


  • Fabrication Inspections
  • monitor/inspect in-process welding and inspect weldments in accordance with AWS/ABS/MIL SPEC environments.


  • AWS certified weld inspector (CWI)
  • 5/7 years experience in manufacturing, ship building or ship repair, which includes 3 years performing in a role with quality related responsibilities.
  • knowledge of quality techniques and systems, including quality specifications and/or advanced quality systems.
  • in-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 standards
  • ISO 9001 Internal auditor certs are a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products.
  • Experience with government customer relations strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Able to work overtime if requested
