    Colonna's Shipyard is looking to obtain experienced candidates within our Paint Department.
     
    We are pleased to accept resumes for Paint Shop Resource Manager.
     
    This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our headquarters in Norfolk, VA.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Interview, train, motivate and retain a skilled work force
    • Identify training needs of each employee under their supervision
    • Perform daily job cost reviews and provide feedback to Section Manager or Superintendent when required.
    • Perform job cost projections on a weekly basis, account for man – hours used by the department employees.
    • Responsible for providing the correct labor to efficiently perform the job at the lowest possible labor cost.
    • Employee and temporary subcontractor supervision, to include the prevention of unauthorized work
    • Collect TimeCards daily, update the shops attendance spreadsheet and turn card into TimeKeeping
    • Manage the use of company paid overtime. Only expend overtime for critical path items, to solve manpower shortage, or ease facility overcrowding. Work only approved overtime.
    • Control and maintain company equipment assigned to your trade
    • Ensure that rental equipment is turned in immediately after use.
    • Review yard work practice and processes, develop and implement improvements.
    • Assist in developing cost estimates and schedules.
    • Prove technical expertise and advice to Project Superintendents.
    • Assist the Superintendent and Section manager in determining the manpower required for the project
    • Audit the various projects for productivity, safety, and to determine that the personnel assigned have the proper tools to work safely and efficiently.
    • Establish and maintain a working relationship with customer, employees and management.
    • Document and maintain filed of weekly.
    • Provide jobsite supervision and assistance as required. Ensure that any Shop Supervisor assigned to a job are on the deck plates 80% of the time.
    • Work independently to complete responsibilities
    • Must have regular, reliable attendance
    • Will be required to wear protective equipment hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/ shoes and, when necessary, respirator.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
    • 7 years’ minimum hand on experience in trade to be supervised
    • 7 years’ minimum experience with trademen supervision
    • Previous shipboard experience strongly preferred
    • Attention to detail and documentation, to include recordkeeping and scheduling
    • Through knowledge of ship repair processes
    • Successful supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
